CCAA East I baseball names all-stars
Gowanda’s Ryan Boutelle was named the CCAA East I Player of the Year recently while teammates Joe Kruszka and Matt Kruszka joined him on the First Team.
Boutelle was the First Team catcher after batting .411 in league play and scoring 19 runs while Joe Kruszka was one of three First Team pitchers after posting a 3-1 win-loss record with a 3.10 earned-run average. Matt Kruszka was one of five First Team infielders. He hit .470 in league play and drove in 14 runs.
Also on the first team were pitchers Aaron Fidurko (Olean, 3-0, 1.65) and Justus Elliot (Portville) while Jake Cavana (Olean, .447 AVG, 17 hits), Brett Marcellin (Portville, .345 AVG, 11 runs), Andy Crandall (Salamanca, .333 AVG, 11 stolen bases) and Zach Johnston (Allegany-Limestone, .352 AVG, 10 RBI) joined Matt Kruszka as First-Team infielders.
First-Team outfielders were Olean’s Luke Hennessy (.464 AVG, 13 hits) and Brock Blovsky (.483 AVG, 14 hits), Allegany-Limestone’s Matt Fidurko (.457 AVG, 16 hits) and Randolph’s Derek Young (.381 AVG, 16 hits). Young’s Cardinal teammate Nick Hettenbaugh was the First-Team utility player. He finished league play with a .435 AVG and 20 hits.
Second-Team pitchers were Allegany-Limestone’s Dom Conroy (1-3, 4.46 ERA) and Olean’s Evan Treehouse while the catcher was Olean’s Chance Anzivine (.405 AVG, 15 hits). In the infield were Gowanda’s Chase Williams (.312 AVG, 12 runs), Portville’s Alek Gonzales (.353 AVG, 12 runs), Salamanca’s Matt Crandall (.292 AVG) and Randolph’s Austin Mitchell (.353 AVG, 12 hits).
John Zmites (Olean, .432 AVG, 16 hits), Kyle McGraw (Allegany-Limestone, .343 AVG, 11 hits) and Jon McCarthy (Gowanda, .290, 17 runs) were all named as Second-Team outfielders. The Second-Team utility player was Portville’s Bill Shaffer, who hit .351 and scored 11 runs.
Honorable mention went Olean’s Luke Bowser and Colby Cummings, Portville’s Sean Harris and Cal Hollanby, Allegany-Limestone’s Ryan Wood and David Skener, Salamanca’s Mitchell Gilbert, Randolph’s Derek Marsh and Nate Ploetz and Gowanda’s Josh Mitchell and Carter Benton.
