Tree Line USA recognizes National Grid for best arboriculture practices

National Grid has been honored by the Tree Line USA program of The Arbor Day Foundation for the 15th year in a row. National Grid, doing business in Massachusetts, New York and Rhode Island was recognized for its non-stop commitment to proper tree pruning, planting and care in their service areas for more than a decade.

“Trees can be personal and very important parts of our customers’ lives so we set a very high standard for our forestry practices,” said Cheri Warren, National Grid vice president of asset management. “The Tree Line award is a great honor, as it speaks to the dedication of the people who do this important work.”

National Grid received the Tree Line USA award by meeting the five program standards for proper tree care: annual worker training sessions, tree-planting, public education programs, maintenance of a tree-based energy conservation program and participation in an Arbor Day celebration.

The Arbor Day Foundation collaborates with the National Association of State Foresters on the Tree Line USA initiative that recognizes public and private utilities that have practices that protect and enhance America’s urban forests.
