Solstice celebration scheduled for Saturday
Labyrinthine Ways Peace Park at 3829 Franklin Avenue, East Town of Dunkirk, is open for its 14th season. The trails east of Goose Creek are mowed. The trails on the west side are open but not mowed.
Preparations are being made for the Solstice celebration. Hopefully, both labyrinths will be open as well as more trails. Events for the Solstice, Saturday, June 21, include the dedication of the picnic area to Pete Seeger at 3 p.m. A family sing-along of Pete’s selection of folk tunes is scheduled between 3 and 5 p.m.
From 6 to 8, there will be a drumming circle. All are welcome, with or without a drum.
Of course, the trails and labyrinths will be open all day. Also, a nature scavenger hunt can be used by anyone who cares to learn more about their environment.
During the drumming, there will a bonfire, so bring your marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate!
The group is interested in any new ideas on what to offer at the park as well as activities. Hopefully, members of the D&F Peace Association will be present as well as other peace-loving people.
