Gowanda declares Saturday Saint Joseph School Day
GOWANDA – The village of Gowanda has declared Saturday as Saint Joseph School Day throughout the village. The Village Board recently passed the following resolution:
“Whereas, dedicated teaching and meaningful learning has existed at Saint Joseph School for ninety years; and Whereas, the motto for Saint Joseph is: Achieve, Believe, Excel; and Whereas, the teachers, principals and school staff, both past and present, have worked to guide students toward spiritual, academic and personal excellence; and Whereas, a high level of educational and volunteer service at Saint Joseph School has been provided for the village of Gowanda and local surrounding communities; and Whereas, three and four generations of families at Saint Joseph School have built and maintained a lasting tradition for Catholic education and Whereas, giving back to their communities and helping others are values instilled each year in Saint Joseph School students; and Whereas, many former Saint Joseph students and graduated have made successful contributions in government, industry, business, education and numerous professional fields; and Whereas, Now be it resolved that June 21, 2014 be proclaimed Saint Joseph School 90th Year Commencement and Grand Reunion Day.
Therefore, I, Heather McKeever, mayor of the village of Gowanda and the village of Gowanda Board of Trustees do hereby proclaim June 21, 2014 as Saint Joseph School Day in Gowanda, New York.”
The 90th commencement ceremonies for the school will be celebrated at the 4:30 p.m. Mass on Saturday with a reception and reunion immediately following.
