Irma J. Jensen
GOWANDA – Irma J. Jensen, a resident of Elder-Wood Health Care at Lakewood in Hamburg, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014. She was 79.
Irma was born in Buffalo, March 31, 1935, the daughter of Edwin and Ina (Fattey) Miller.
A New York state employee, Irma worked for the former Gowanda Psychiatric Center, holding various positions, most notably switchboard operator. Irma retired in 1996 after nearly 25 years of service.
Irma enjoyed her children and grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She was a member of the Amer-ican Legion Post 409 Ladies Auxiliary, the Slovenian Club and the Moose Lodge No. 1382, all of Gowanda. She enjoyed playing computer games and cards, especially euchre. She was involved and enjoyed many of the activities and programs offered at Elder-Wood and will be missed by many of the staff and residents who became part of her extended family and friends in the past couple years.
Survivors include a daughter, Deborah (Daniel) Urbank of Collins and a son, Robert Jensen of Gowanda. Irma is also survived by grandchildren, Amy (Luke) Ramey, Ryan Urbank, Heather Urbank, Christopher Murray and Jamie Jensen, along with great-granddaughter Greta Ramey. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Besides her parents, Irma was preceded in death by a brother, Henry (Helen) Miller.
Friends may call at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME, 44 Center St., Gowanda, NY, (716) 532-4200, today from 4-7 p.m., where funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 11 a.m. Interment in the Jolls Cemetery.
