Events planned Saturday for Fredonia Farmers’ Market
Several exciting events will take place at the Fredonia Farmers’ Market on Saturday.
From 10:30 to 11 a.m., Gary Patterson of Gardengate Greenhouse will host a mini-workshop on container gardening. If you are an apartment dweller, or don’t have space at your residence to put in a full sized garden but want to grow some fresh, delicious vegetables, this workshop is for you. Patterson will demonstrate how you can easily grow tomatoes, cucumbers, and even corn in a pot. This workshop is free to the public.
From 10 a.m. to noon, Tanya Eggleston from Chautauqua County Cooperative Extension will demonstrate making an easy light Strawberry Spinach Salad with dressing using produce from vendor farmers. This is the second of the Eat Healthy, Eat Local Cooking Program sponsored by the Fredonia Farmers’ Market. Recipes and free samples will be available to the public.
From 11 a.m. onward, the Fredonia Farmers’ Market is pleased to sponsor an encore jam session of local Olde Time Fiddlers.
Community members can enjoy the music and the usual free pancakes from Degolier’s Maple Products. Bring the family down for a vintage photo session at Old Tyme Photos in the park, and see why downtown Fredonia is the place to be on Saturday mornings.
The Fredonia Farmers’ Market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Church Street adjacent to Barker Commons in downtown Fredonia. The weekly market offers an abundance of locally grown and produced vegetables, fruits and herbs, meats, baked goods, maple syrup, honey, jams and jellies, as well as artisan quality craft goods.
Numerous produce vendors accept EBT tokens and WIC/FMNP checks.
