Welch’s/National Grape award three scholarships to SUNY Fredonia students
Three Welch’s/National Grape Scholarships, each valued at $1,000 for the 2014-2015 academic year at the State University of New York at Fredonia, have been awarded to Morgan Bennett of Brocton, John Cole of Dunkirk and Benjamin Schrantz of Whitesboro.
Welch’s and National Grape Cooperative have endowed the scholarship with the Fredonia College Foundation for academically meritorious students enrolled full-time at Fredonia who are the children or grandchildren of the two organizations’ employees or grower/owners. Selections are based on academic records, personal statements and recommendations.
Bennett, daughter of Eileen Bennett and Kent Bennett, is a 2014 graduate of Brocton Central School. She has declared a major in social work and will be a first-year student this fall. Her parents are grower/owners of Welch’s/National Grape.
Cole, son of John and Rosanne Cole, is a 2013 graduate of Fredonia Central School. He is a sophomore majoring in music education. His mother is a National Grape employee.
Schrantz, son of Karl and Diane Schrantz, of Whitesboro, and grandson of Leonard and Dorothy Schrantz, of Dunkirk, is a 2011 graduate of Notre Dame High School, Utica and is a senior majoring in history. His grandfather is a retiree of Welch’s.
