Westfield Recreation Department announces summer schedule
The Westfield Recreation Department is pleased to announce details about the summer programs.
Free summer concerts will be held Wednesdays in Moore Park from 7-8:30 p.m. July 2, the Rustic Ramblers will perform. July 16, the James Earl Band will perform, and on August 6, the KoKoMo Band will present their tropical looks and sounds from the ’50s through the ’70s. The performances are free of charge. Audience members are asked to bring their own seating. Parents can register their children for the summer swimming lessons through July 3. Staff are available to accept registrations from 6:45-10 a.m., and again from 3-6:30 p.m. weekdays. The cost for Westfield residents is $20 for one child in the family, a second child for $15, and a third child for $10. The maximum fee per Westfield family is capped at $45. For out of town residents, the first child in the family is $25, the second, $20, and the third $15, for a cap per family of $60.
The sessions run as follows from June 30 through Aug. 15:
6:45-8:10 a.m.: Early Bird Adult Lap Swim; 8:20-9:05 a.m.: Deep Water Aerobics; 9:10-9:50 a.m.: Mod Impact Aerobics (M/W); 9:10-9:50 a.m.: Water Aqua w/noodles (F); 10-10:25 a.m.: Lessons Levels 1,2,3,4; 10:30-10:55 a.m.: Lessons Levels 1,2,3,4; 11-11:25 a.m.: Lessons Levels 1,2,3; 11:30-11:50: Lessons Levels 1,2,3; 11-11:50 a.m.: Dive Team; 12-12:50 p.m.: Swim Team (M, F); 1-5 p.m.: Open Swim; 5:20-6:05 p.m.: Deep Water Aqua (M), 5:20-6:05 p.m.: Low/Mod Aqua (W,F); 6:15-6:45 p.m.: Lessons Levels 1,2,3; 7-8:30 p.m.: Evening Swim (M,F) and 7-8:30 p.m.: Family Swim (W).

There will be Open Swim all Saturdays from 1-5 p.m. The pool is closed all Sundays. Other days that the pool is closed include July 4, July 5, Aug. 8 from 1-5 p.m. during the Triathlon, and Aug. 13 from 1-5 p.m. during the Carnival. Aug. 14 & 15, there will be a Swim Show during lessons. Aug.16 will be the Invitational Swim Meet.
The Welch Field Summer Program opens Monday, June 30. Participants in Welch Field activities must be registered. The events for Opening Week include Monday, June 30, 10 a.m.: Capture the Flag; 1 p.m.: Can Jam Tournament; Tuesday, July 1, 10 a.m.: Flag Football; 1 p.m.: Wiffleball; Wednesday, July 2, 10 a.m.: Pirate’s Gold; 1 p.m.: Battle Ball; Thursday, July 3, 10 a.m.: Soccer League; and 6 p.m.: Roller Skating at Eason Hall. There will be Arts & Crafts on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. There will be no program on Friday, July 4.
Walkers are welcome to use the air conditioned Eason Hall Auditorium when it is available.
Westfield residents needing help with yard work and odd jobs are asked to call the Westfield Recreation Department at 326-4243 and the department will assist in arrange for a local teen to help.
