Dunkirk Free Library receives Wal-Mart grant

The Wal-Mart Founda-tion Community Grand Fund awarded a $1,000 grant to the children’s room at the Dunkirk Free Library, according to Pamela Czarniak, coord-inator of children’s services for the library.

“This grant money is being used to update our nonfiction books in the library, including animal books, inventions, robots, sports, and more, to keep the children reading all summer. I greatly appreciate this much-needed help from Wal-Mart to purchase books that we would not be able to afford otherwise.” said Czarniak.

The Children’s Room at the library began its summer reading program. This year’s theme is “Fizz, Boom, Read!” a science theme. The library will have story times, crafts, fun experiments, movies, and much more. Reading prizes will also be a part of the program.

Today the annual summer carnival for ages 2-10 will be held from 2-4 p.m at the Library.
