Irving fire was at town councilman’s house

IRVING – Hanover Supervisor Todd Johnson, who is also involved with the Silver Creek Fire Department, confirmed Monday night’s fire on Alleghany Road was at town Councilman Wayne Ashley’s house.

Johnson also confirmed some cats and dogs perished in the blaze, which was put out quickly by firefighters.

He said because of smoke and water damage, Ashley and his wife, Beverly, are not able to stay at the residence.

Ashley is a town councilman, retired Chautauqua County Sheriff deputy and manages the Sheridan Bay Park.

Responding to the fire were Sunset Bay, Silver Creek, Irving, Forestville, Sheridan, Hanover Center and East Dunkirk fire departments. The cause of the fire was not released by the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team Tuesday.
