Bialaszewski family holds reunion, welcomes new family members

The second reunion of the descendants of Felix and Helen (Grupa) Bialaszewski was held Saturday, July 5 at the home of Eugene and Jana Tarnowski on South Roberts Road in Dunkirk. The committee for the reunion consisted of five grandchildren: Jack Bialaszewski, Eugene and Jana Tarnowski, Donna Pucciarelli, Denise DeLair and Dana Myers. This year David Bialaszewski, another grandchild, was added to the committee.

Seven of the remaining eight siblings attended the reunion. Several new members of the family were added this year. Tommy, grandson, and Keitha Bialaszewski were married in August 2013. Anna Amidon, daughter of great-granddaughter Tara and her husband Doug Amidon was born in October of 2013. Maxwell Bialaszewski, son of grandson Todd and his wife Christine Bialaszewski was born in January of 2014 and Kayleigh Arcarese, daughter of great granddaughter Kelly and her husband Tom Arcarese Jr., was born in April 2014.

The 67 family members and three guests enjoyed an informal day which included a picnic dinner, a Chinese auction, including a basket containing the famous coffee cake made from a recipe passed down through the generations, and a 50/50 raffle. Family members traveled from Rochester, Ohio, and North Carolina to attend the event.

In the evening three Chinese lanterns were lit and sent into the sky. One was for the family members who have departed, one for long life and health for those remaining, and the last for a safe journey home for all those who were traveling.

The next reunion is planned for Saturday, July 11, 2015, at the same location.
