Jury completed for Fredonia murder trial

All 12 seats have now been filled on the jury in the Fredonia murder trial for former One Temple Square resident Jason P. Wells.

Chautauqua County District Attorney David Foley informed the OBSERVER Wednesday afternoon that jury selection wrapped up as of that morning. He added the prosecution’s case in chief will commence this upcoming Tuesday.

Two alternate jurors were also chosen during the paneling, which took place over the course of two days.

Foley declined to release details regarding the composition of the jury.

Wells is accused of stabbing and beating fellow One Temple Square resident Ruth Fisk, a retired nurse, to death in February 2010. He was 37 at that time and was indicted and charged with second-degree murder.

If convicted, Wells faces a minimum of 15 years to life in state prison and a maximum of 25 years to life.
