A push for the finals

Day 2 of the girls’ 11-12 state softball tournament featured Section 5 Southshore Little League against Section 3 Chatham Little League.

Southshore defeated Chatham, 10-3.

Leading Southshore was Isabella Fiumefreddo with three hits while Maya Reyes, Danielle Maguire and Kaitlin Doran each had two hits.

For Chatham, the leading batter was Eliza Lindberg with two hits. Danielle Maguire was the winning pitcher while Jenna Skype took the loss.

Southshore will be back in action today at 2 p.m. as they will play Section 1 Fredonia.

Chatham will have to wait to see if they move on to the semifinals after the results of the Southshore/Fredonia game.

In the second game played Thursday, Section 4 New City defeated Section 6 NBNM, 18-1.

Leading New City with three hits was Samantha Kaner (double). Abby Zaslau and Kim Kaufman chipped in with two hits.

Jenna Oiliberti had the lone hit of NBNM.

Kim Fudge earned the victory, striking out six. Julia Tarantino suffered the loss.

Section 6 NBNM will be back in action today at 5 p.m. against Section 2 Oneida. Section 4 New City will move on to the semifinals Saturday.
