Family sings scheduled July 16, July 29, and Aug. 13
Growing with Music Together is hosting family sings on Wednesday, July 16, Tuesday, July 29 and Wednesday, Aug. 13 at Barlow’s Mill, 369 W. Main St., Fredonia from 7 to 8 p.m. These free events are scheduled so families with young children can enjoy making music in an informal setting. No prior musical training or skill is required. Simple refreshments are provided at the conclusion of the program. If weather permits, the sings are held outside in the play yard under the big Norway Spruce tree. Otherwise, they are inside in the classroom area of Barlow’s Mill.
Singing traditional and folk songs was the way past generations socialized. A family sing continues this American tradition and adds the playing of rhythm instruments to the mix. Families are invited to bring their own instruments – not only rhythm instruments, but other instruments such as guitars, harmonicas, wind and string instruments or kazoos. Growing with Music provides bells, drums, shakers and a variety of rhythm instruments. Kay Barlow, director of Growing with Music Together, directs the evening.
Everyone who loves to sing and make music is welcome to attend, whether part of a young family or not. Bring blankets or lawn chairs for comfort.
