Fredonia Shakespeare Club holds annual picnic

The Fredonia Shakespeare Club recently celebrated the conclusion of the 2013-2014 year with its annual picnic at the home of incoming treasurer Mrs. William Larson. She was assisted by fellow officers for the 2014-2015 year: President Ms. Florence McClellan, Vice President Ms. Joyce Haines and Secretary Mrs. Mary Jane Covley Walker.

Following the picnic luncheon, outgoing President Mrs. Robert Woodbury opened the meeting by thanking her fellow officers for their support over the past year. Mrs. Louis Richardson gave the secretary’s annual report which included the fall tea. The topic “Creativity and the Spark of Genius” had been the theme for the year. At the scheduled 17 weekly meetings, members made presentations on diverse creative achievements in the fields of science, commerce and the arts. The highlight of the year was the celebration of Shakespeare’s 450th Birthday held on April 24, 2014 at the Shorewood Country Club.

McClelland, president for the 2014-2015 year, announced the theme for the year will be “Women of Achievement.” Members selected topics and chose the dates to present their papers as well as a date to serve as hostess for the upcoming year.

The annual fall tea will be held on Oct. 9.
