Cassadaga woman dies in crash

CHARLOTTE – A Cassadaga woman has died and a Cherry Creek man was hospitalized after their vehicle reportedly struck a tree around 7 a.m. in the town of Charlotte on Sunday.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, 31-year-old Kelly J. Daniels was operating a 2013 Chrysler 300 eastbound on Cassadaga Road.

She apparently lost control of the vehicle and struck the tree.

Daniels was pronounced dead at the scene.

Starflight responded to the scene and the passenger, Michael A. Priest, 36, was flown to Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa., for apparent head injuries.

Also responding to the scene were the Cassadaga, Charlotte and Sinclairville fire departments.

The investigation is continuing.
