Knights of Columbus to hold appreciation dinner for priests and religious on Sept. 7
The Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree, Cardinal Mindszenty Assembly 727, and Councils 929 Dunkirk, 7921 Fredonia, 15113 Gowanda, 5356 Silver Creek and 3100 Westfield are again hosting the 16th annual priests appreciation dinner. Nuns and deacons will also be included. The event will be held at Monsignor Bernardo Hall, Holy Trinity Church, Central Avenue Dunkirk, on Sunday, Sept. 7, with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m.
The event honors all the area priests and religious personnel for their dedicated services to the parishes as well as to the communities. The Knights recognize the decrease in the vocation of priesthood and the additional burden it has put on the honorees shoulders, but the priests and religious continue to undertake the challenges without any complaints. Today, many priests are taking care of two or three parishes. Years ago, there were two or three priests serving a single parish.
It is the intention of the Knights of Columbus members, together with the general public, to acknowledge and thank these individuals for their efforts as they take on more and more responsibilities, duties and activities to fulfill the needs of their parishioners.
The K of C members encourage the laity to take time to thank our dedicated priests in a special way for all those blessings. The combined area councils are proud and happy to be able to salute the local priests with the utmost admiration, respect, and appreciation for the guidance, leadership, and love with which they serve.
This event is open to the public and tickets may be purchased from any member of the Knights of Columbus. For further information and reservations, contact Paul Butryn at 863-7201.
