Retired math teacher the patriarch of a large and growing family

Conrad Pawlak, a retired math teacher, certainly isn’t afraid of large numbers. This was quite evident on Saturday, July 12, when 51 of 86 family members, including spouses, arrived for a family reunion at the home of Robert and Julie Pawlak in Jamestown.

Conrad and his late wife, Virginia, were the proud parents of 16 children. He currently has 38 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Family members traveled from Texas, South Carolina, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Wisconsin and Illinois.

The few family members unable to attend joined in via Skype.

Besides an abundance of food, the day was filled with games such as a competitive football game, campfire sing-a-longs and balloon fights.

A detailed family tree developed by Doug Pawlak, showed the ancestry of the Pawlak-Miller family.

One of the highlights of the day was watching Conrad delight in all the festivities, welcoming the new babies, and meeting new spouses through recent marriages.

Also in attendance were some of his friends, as well as Kay Hosterman (Virginia Pawlak’s sister) and her husband, Doug, from Erie, Pa.

The Pawlak clan plans to have another reunion in two years. The next challenge will be finding a venue large enough for this growing family.

Conrad, formerly of Fredonia, currently resides at Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk.
