Lucile Emily (Baldwin) Brown


Lucile Emily Brown, who lived at Kingdom of the Sun Retirement Center in Deming, New Mexico, passed away at home on July 15, 2014.

A memorial service was held Friday, July 18, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church in Deming. Inurnment was at Fort Bayard National Cemetery on July 25, 2014.

Lucile was born March 23, 1929, to Myrl and Dorothea (Arnold) Baldwin in the town of Pomfret, Chautauqua County, New York. She graduated from Fredonia High School Class of 1946. On Sept. 3, 1948, she married Waldo “Brownie” Brown in Fredonia, New York. They were married 65 years.

Lucile was formerly a bank teller and volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader and with the Mimbres Valley Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She and “Brownie” moved to Deming 14 years ago, after RV traveling for 10 years.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her sister, Marian Nelsen; her brother, Norman Baldwin; her three half brothers, Archie Baldwin, Aubrey Baldwin, and Robert Baldwin; and her nephew Peter Baldwin.

She is also related to the Bull family of Fredonia and Dunkirk areas.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Brownie of Deming; her son Mark Brown and wife Judy of Vidalia, Georgia; her daughter Marcia Mallick of Baltimore, Maryland; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; brother David Baldwin and wife Kay of Fredonia; brother-in-law Bruce Nelsen of Deming; and numerous nieces and nephews.
