DF Center for Peace & Justice collects items for Nicaragua

The Dunkirk-Fredonia Center for Peace & Justice conducted its annual mid-summer collection of humanitarian items for poverty-level residents of the Central American country of Nicaragua during the month of July. The gathering was in conjunction with the Catholic social worker Ann Marie Zon of East Amherst. Zon has joined with Nicaraguan clergy to assist people living and farming in the hill country for a quarter of a century and is currently helping to promote the construction and operation of a community center.

The ministry is known as the Nicaragua Mission.

A recent issue of the Mission newsletter, “La Via” reports that two young lady graduates of the Mission educational program, which includes community service, are recipients of degrees from Nicaraguan colleges. Kalia majored in international business and Kimberly studied interior design.

Zon extended much gratitude to the Dunkirk-Fredonia organization for assistance in the work of the Nicaragua Mission.
