Pinehurst Golf Course
The Pinehurst ParTee Girls league champions for 2014 were Eileen LaPorte and Brooke (Sheesley) Calkins. The teams tied for second place were Trudy Gollnitz and Bert Vilardo, and Jill Muck and Patty Petrella. League members enjoyed a season-ending banquet with a Western theme, which was put on by Shelly Cady and Amy Swanson. Dave Mathews shot a new league course record even-par 72 at Peek ‘n Peak’s Upper Course. The old record of 78 was held by Larry Hayden. Mathews was low on both the front nine (38) and back nine (2-under par 34). Other flight winners were John Bongiovanni (B), Jack Griswold (C) and Pat Weaver (D). Winner of the Commissioner’s Award was Vin Piglowski.

Gowanda soccer, touch football, softball begin in September
The Gowanda youth co-ed soccer and touch football programs will return this fall. On five consecutive Monday nights beginning Sept. 8, soccer for children in grades K-7 will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the George Dispenza Memorial Field on Broadway Road. Co-ed touch football will be held at the same location and time on five consecutive Wednesday nights beginning Sept. 10 for children in grades 3 through 7.
After a four year hiatus, adult men’s recreational softball games will also be held at the same site each Tuesday night beginning Sept. 9 from 5:30 to 7 pm. This will precede the 16th Annual Slow Pitch tournament slated for Saturday, Sept. 6.

Lucky Lanes bowling league meetings
The annual bowling league meeting for the five-man, handicap, Lou Nocek Classic League is Monday, Aug. 25 at 8 p.m. at Lucky Lanes. All returning team captains and any new individuals/teams are urged to attend. The first week of bowling will be Monday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m.. The four-person, handicap, Wednesday Night Four-Man League is having its meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 27 at 8 p.m. at Lucky Lanes. The 35th Annual Westfield
One-Pitch Slow Pitch
The Annual Westfield One-Pitch Slow Pitch Softball Tournament will be held Aug. 23 in Westfield on the softball fields at NorthLake, Smith and Westfield School. Entry fees must be in by today.
The tournament will be a double elimination if there are more than 12 teams and a round robin format if there are 12 teams or less. This is a one-pitch slow pitch format with each batter starting with a 3-2 count. The entry fee is $250 per team. A payout based on 16 teams is $1,000 for first, $500 for second and $250 for third.
Any proceeds will go to the Woody Keyser fund.

An organizational meeting for Lucky Lanes Junior Bowlers will be held Monday, Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. at Lucky Lanes.
