Villenova Grange holds meeting

Villenova Grange 604 met recently. Paul Smith conducted the business session at its Balcoms Corners, South Dayton, location.

New applicants were voted into membership. Phyllis Ivett showed a quilt that she made and would be willing to share in behalf of the Grange.

Jared Woolley announced that Norris Nobles passed away July 6. Norris had also been active with the Chautauqua County Antique Equipment Association, which is also missing him. In August Past NYS Master Wendell Chamberlain (of Allegany County) passed into eternal rest.

Neva Woolley gave the Treasurer’s report and noted that “My Fair Memories” booth won second place at Chautauqua County Fair, and “Community Service” booth won second place at Cattaraugus County Fair. (Thanks to Carolyn Herman for delivering it.)

As Past State Deputy Master, Jared presented Past State Deputy Master Neva Woolley with her 65-year seal. She mentioned she had served as Matron of Junior Grange from 1960-2005 (45 years).

Past State Deputy Master Neva presented Jared with his 60-year seal. She told of knowing him before she joined Grange, and Jared told of introducing Neva to Norris (who became her husband).

Villenova Grange Pancake Brunches will begin Oct. 5 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and will be served the first Sunday of the month through May.

The regular meetings are the third Monday night at 7 p.m.
