Large trash pickup slated for Sept. 13 in Brocton

BROCTON – The village of Brocton will host a large trash pickup on Sept. 13 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the village’s department of public works shop on Highland Avenue.

Items that are left over from the season’s yard sales can be disposed of at the large trash pickup in the following categories: car trunk load, $5; pickup truck load, $15; miscellaneous items, $1 to $4; utility trailer load, $15; televisions and computers, $10; residential tires, $2 up to 19 inches and dismounted from rims.

The village’s department of public works reminds residents that tires will not be accepted on Sept. 13 or hauled by municipalities from commercial establishments such as tire shops and/or junk yards.

For residents needing to dispose of big metal items such as washers, dryers, hot water tanks, stoves, metal cabinetry, lawn mowers or other miscellaneous items, a large metal pickup has been slated for Sept. 8.

Streets Supervisor Tom Allen reminds Brocton residents that brush pickup is still taking place through November and will take place every first Monday of the month.

In case of a Monday holiday at the first of the month, brush will then be removed on a Tuesday.

Residents are asked not to put brush out more than 48 hours prior to pickup. Brush should be placed curbside in an orderly manner and leaves and grass clippings should be contained inside of a bag for quick and easy pick up.

For any questions or for more information, residents should contact the department of public works directly at 792-4167 or refer to the departments’ seasonal newsletter distributed by mail.
